Hi guys, i have a hp laptop and having problems with identifying my wireless network. i'm running on vista and i have to keep on restarting the laptop. as windows diaognises the fault as "network card is turned off".

HOw can i put this on.thanks

There may be a switch that you are accidentally pressing somewhere on your laptop. Mine has one at the front which I catch quite a lot.

Just to expand, have you made sure that you've turned on wireless in the first place?

Some laptops have a little picture of an arial over one of the F keys at the top which you have to press Fn and that key to enable the wireless and then a light might come on or something. Or, as thomas234 said, you might have a button on the front that you have to press.

Tried the FN and F key to turn the wireless card on, still no luck. Windows still diagnises the problem as "switch your network card ON"

What I have noticed is on Device Manager it states I havent installed the PCI Communications. Could this be why.

I don't know what the PCI Commucation so i went on the website to install it, but still no luck.

Do you think it is the PCI Communication that is the problem

Track down your laptop's model number on HP's website, then download and install the Vista drivers for it.
