I Have installed a new video Editing Program that suggests I update my Display Adapter , However I have tried from the Display adapter window "update Driver" and is says i have the Best Match it can find ,
But there must be a newer one available as this is a 2004 Driver .
in the Adapter window says :- RS200M AGP (0x4337)
and Adapter Driver :- Radeon IGP 340M ( before i updated just said (IGP 340M ,2001)
So does anyone know which driver I can use and where can I get it ( i have checked the ATI website and was not sure which I could use )I presume I need one better for video graphics 2006'
I have compaq presario laptop 1580AP ( studio DV 10.0 video editing is asking me to update)

Any help would be great Thanks Mark

i got these from the compaq website. this is the video driver for windows xp, this might help. make sure, you uninstall the former driver before installing this.

that particular "update driver" button only does a search of your system (HDD & CD's). you need to download new drivers (any radeon) as the ATI driver contains the drivers for all radeon cards, so any radeon download will do, on installation the install software looks at your grfx card and then installs the appropriate driver files according to your grfx card and OS and other stuff

Okay, just because a program suggests you should upgrade your video drivers, doesn't mean you have to!

My advice: If it ain't broke don't fix it.

Thanks for the Advice , and yes I would normally not touch the drivers , however in the editing program the video is a bit jumpy and somtimes freezes which I didn't get with my old program ( not enough features on that)
so I will see if there is a Omega or radeon driver that I can use ,
unless you can suggest one thats better for me .

    Thanks Mark

i've looked through the ati website and could not find a driver for your particular chip. you may want to try the driver from my first post (link) which i found on the compaq website.
    ps good luck wallabies.

The only ATi driver that will work is the one from the Compaq website. This is because he is using a laptop and the graphics chip may have been modified slightly

Thanks all , however I have tried all drivers from compaq , inc emailing them they send me a older one than I have , Hydrovision does not work , ATI don't seem to know ,
all I can find out from the web is the Catalyst 5.13 might work as there is setting for a IGP320m ( apparently same for AMD instead Intel) but when I try and install says ( error inf file not found , no vga driver found)
so I am stuck again as I have drivers for all installed ( no yellow question marks in Device manager )
so if anyone has any Ideas how to sort out the error message or VGA driver not found then I can try the Catalyst 5.13

    Thanks Mark

Well I'll repeat myself again, just leave the graphics card drivers alone!

You are making a problem when there isn't really one. If the current drivers work, just leave them be.
