How!?!?!?!?!?!

Linux Styling

Download and install it according to the instructions....I'm not in linux at the moment.

If you have what problem do you have.

[ot]Why would you want Linux to look like Windows? Windows isn't exactly the most attractive environment to begin with. Also, it still isn't going to function like Windows even if you skin it that way. Just FYI.[/ot]Unfortunately, it seems that link only leads to the author's homepage, and he has taken down his Windows theme. Perhaps MS threatened him with a lawsuit? :(

That said, normally you can simply install a theme package through the KDE Control Center, and this goes for any distro (see the attached screenshot). You just download the theme in an archive, and click "install theme" in the KDE theme manager. Couldn't be easier, and no 3rd party apps to make your system slow! :)

That Windows XP KDE skin would give me nightmares

Description:
I decided to remove the links to this project as I cannot stomach Windows(R) clones proliferating here, and hope that doing this may set an example. Do not copy! Create! I apologize for posting this originally, and hope the community can forgive me.

Haha, at least the author realised what a mistake it was :D

:P, thanks for the info AT, i wanted to use Windows XP theme coz i would of thought maybe stuff could be done easier due to the fact i am in a familiar enviroment.

On Kubuntu, it should be under system settings, then appearance somewhere, and its called theme or style.

KDE Theme Manager in Mandriva can be reached through the "Configure Your Desktop" link -- it's just a user-friendly name for the KDE Control Center.

And then i go to Look and feel right?, its not there???

Ok, found the Theme manager, i downloaded this theme, but i dont know how to install it, how do i install it, there is no instructions with the download on how to install it :(

Linux Styling

Typically you just click "Install Theme" in the theme manager and browse to the theme archive you downloaded. That's pretty much it.

Or, you could always just change the various aspects of KDE (colors, fonts, window decorations, style themes/skins, launch notification, splash screen, wallpaper(s), sounds, etc) and make your own theme to taste. That's what I did :)

Um, no wonder! That's not a theme, that's a sidebar mod. :P That person's theme does look extremely nice though!

But try looking here instead (KDE 3.2 - 3.5 themes).

Ah silly me :P, thanks anyway, just wondering now tho, how would i install the sidebar mod?

According to the readme in his archive:

Copy images to:

/usr/share/apps/kicker/pics

Execute command:

killall -TERM kicker && kicker

nuoveXT KDE-Look.org

i got that from the page were you linked to, even theme manager cant see that file :s
You're driving me crazy here! :P If you look closely at the link you sent me, that's an icon theme. You don't install icon themes the same way as whole KDE theme packages, as icons are only a small part of a theme. If you just want to install an icon theme, it's under Look & Feel --> Icons.

For KDE themes, try clicking on the Themes / Styles section on the left, then KDE 3.2 - 3.5 and looking through those. :)
