You won't get any sarcastic comments, just an answer...
You can check CPU temps in the BIOS usually, but you can also use a program to monitor them if you motherboard supports it, something like SpeedFan is very good.

When you first turn on your computer, you'll have a short time to hit a specific key, usually Delete. However, pre-built systems from the like of HP and Dell may use one of the Function keys (F1, F2, etc). I've seen some IBM systems use the Insert key as well.

Usually, it'll say what key to press at or near the bottom of the screen. However, if the company has an image logo, you'll have to try one key at a time until you get it.

Unfortunately, most pre-built systems such as Dell or HP don't offer CPU or case tempature features in the BIOS.

You will have to install a 3rd party program within Windows

Once youve got into your bios, cmos, whateva you want to call it you can normaly see what temps you're runnaing at by going into pc health status. but if its not there just explore around untill you find the temps.

If you have already found it, well i thought id post here just in case youre realy having trouble. Dont worry man cuz everyone has to start some where.

Your motherboard might not have a monitoring chip built in. If this is the case, then you won't be able to view your temperatures at all

Like i said before, a lot of the prebuilt systems don't bother with it.

Right. Thanks for all the advice. When i get into my BIOS several headings come up. I have quite thoroughly checked through them all and cannot find the temp. Is this just to do with my bios not having temp or am i not checking properly. i have made a list of the headings so if you could please point me in the right direction :)

    Standard CMOS features
    Advanced BIOS features
    Advanced chipset features
    integrated peripherals
    power management setup
    pnp/pci configurations
    frequency voltage control

which out of those (if any) should i start with?

your bios cant tell you your temp cuz your sys does not have the nesesary chip to measure the temp(see the above posts again). May i ask why youre so keen to get your temps.

Frequency Voltage control is probably where it'd be at. There's no PC Health section is there? If there is, that's what I check first, but otherwise, Frequency Voltage Control is your best bet.

Hmmm, sounds like an Abit motherboard from the headings (mine are exactly the same except for the uGuru header, which is where my temps are).
