I have a new Dell Dimension Petium 4 3 Ghz 512 Ram with HL DT-ST CD RW GCE 8483B , NVIDIA GeForce FX5200 video card and new HP DVD Writer 630c.

The DVD reads and will copy only Menu and special features, playing or copying movie causes a physical memory dump. STOP 0x000000EA Thread Stuck In Device Driver
--> updated video driver
had the same results different error code
STOP 0x0000007E
--> updated firmware of DVD since I was told problem may be with DMA

I never moved my CD-RW or it's connection I just added the DVD writer to the existing IDE cable. DVD is set as slave and sharing IDE cable with CD-RW. DVD is connected to the middle of the IDE cable. Does the position on the IDE cable make a difference?

Any suggestions?

The position of the drive on the cable does make a difference, but it wouldn't affect your system in the way you're experiencing and it's in the right spot for a slave drive anyway. Your problem sounds more like a Windows/software issue. Check Dell's website for software updates pertaining to the software you're using, or perhaps the software munfacturer's homepage. Also, try some alternative DVD mastering software to see if that's the whole issue.
