    Hi, guys.

I have have a standard HP desktop pc, and I was already thinking about buying a new pc. Because I always thought that factory pc's had a fixed cpu. I heard a computer technician at work say that maybe I CAN upgrade my cpu.

The only problem is that I have no idea on where I am supposed to look further, this is all the info I could find. And the HP site doesn't mention a lot about upgrading your cpu

    Processor : Pentium 4N 2.0 Ghz
    Processor Socket Type : MPGA478
    Chipset : SiS650
    Bus frequency : 400 Mhz
    Mainboard : Missouri
    Mainboard Supplier : ASUS

    More info about the mainboard

Any help is very appreciated, if changing the cpu isn't possible I'll have to start thinking about a new comp after all.

    Thanks.

It's only mentioning support for the Willamette core...which was the earliest core for the P4...the crappiest one (arguably). Since it does use a socket 478, you might have a shot at going up to a 2.4GHz P4 (with a 400MHz FSB). This would depend on if the BIOS supports it and if the motherboard has a 24x CPU multiplier or not.
