I've been wondering what kinda cpu should you use in a HTPC would like a socket A be powerful enough or would you need like a socket 939 3700+ or dc?
A socket a will run above 2 gigs, so for a home theater it would be ok, depending on what you want to do with it. Do you plan on streaming, saving, running HD content? Using an HD capture card even? Also, what shell do you plan on using, and what OS. There are HTPC specific utilities that run on Windows, Linux ect.
