Before i start, i will say that my download was possible un-ethical and i am only explain what happend, i intend to add credit into my account soonish (as soon as i stop drinking my wages :D).

I created a All of Mp3 Acount awhile ago (when in was mentioned on hwf as a great alternitive to itunes somewhere on hwf), i'll call it 6 months(?). When i signed in today (planning to buy some credit to get some new music, reminded of the site by THIS slasdot). i noticed i had $0.20 in my account (i do not know why, as i have never put ANY credit into that account.... i guess it was an incentive to download music).

I looked around for something to spend my $0.20's on.... ahh Nightwish - Planet Hell, it was available in every format and bitrate :D my 20 cents would have been enough to download it in mp3 @ 128 bits (which was about $0.13)...

but what did i discover? i could chose FLAC encoding.... which makes the track cost $0.61, more than my account balance, but it let me download it anyway, so my account balance now stands at -$0.41!!!

This seems to be a :swear: up on there part, and not a 'nice' feature that will let you spends a few cent's more than your balance as i wasnt able to download individual tracks (available only on one format) that where more than my account balance (before i 'spent' $0.61 on nightwish :D)

whatever happend, i do now owe them money! (and with the BPI trying to sew them they'll get it, not that the BPI has any chance of winning this one, but i would like the chance to stick the :swr:'s up at them for trying).

The download was quite slow, about 30KB/s but i guess its the sort of thing you leave your pc on overnight for when downlaoading albums (or maby it was just that i choose FLAC and it takes ages to encode :p)

    PS Nightwish rock \m/ >_< \m/

has anybody had any luck getting alltunes to run under wine? AllTunes / Ñäåëàé æèçíü çâîí÷å! (its the software based search client for allofmp3.com, compiled for windows and a few smartphones....)

the Wine AppDB says i need IE to use it, do i really have to install internet explorer under wine? :'( (no wine patches or ff extensions?)

Slashdot | BPI Sue AllOfMp3 In British Courts

read through the comments on the slashdot for the case, it'l show you how hopeless the BPI case is! :p

I doubt they will, there are many things on the internet which are illegal in the UK (Child porn being the first example that comes to mind) but i dont belive ISP's take any measures to block them... this means YOU are responcible for YOUR traffic... If ISP's started Blocking Traffic then it might get interesting (ie people charged with browsing *whatever* say they thought that it was legal, as there ISP hadnt blocked it).

Besides, I'd like to see them Filter Proxy and Tor Traffic... there are so many ways you can smuggle traffic (my current favourite is using 'ping' packets to smuggle traffic past content filters :p)

I haven't been able to, since I'm not running IE. But I've heard it runs fine in the latest WINE CVS if you have IE6 installed. I haven't taken the effort to go through all that, since I just use DownThemAll! to batch download the music I buy.[/ot]
