http://episteme.arstechnica.com/eve...+fixing&x_link=http://arstechnica.com&x_ddp=Y Rather interesting. If you're familiar at all with the RDRAM hubub back around 2000, RDRAM had a reputation for being 'evil'. Apparently, they got screwed by JEDEC who really did shaft Rambus and steal their ideals.
Yeah, considering how they've been considered the bad guy for a long time. I remember when the story at Tom's Hardware Guide (which I don't recommend visiting due to their excessively long and heavily biased reviews) pegged them as a bad guy. Now, I don't think THG did this out of malice, but I do think they didn't know the full story, but neither did anyone else, except Rambus and the JEDEC pirates. Almost all of the the technology discovered/invented by Rambus is being used in DDR, and Rambus really isn't being compensated for it. I believe someone was quoting that the royalties of 1.5% Rambus wanted would've added $12 to a $1000, so it wasn't like they were asking for $4 per megabyte royalties. Rambus got raped after being robbed, and then made to look like the bad guy in all this. Oh, and they were laughed at with the designs that were later stolen...
