Don't see what's so strange about it, I send my fiance a text message to wish her a Happy Valentine's Day at midnight before the day just as a way of saying it first thing, I then meet up with her and show my affection in other ways, usually a card with a poem, a present and then dinner on me. For those of you who hate Valentine's Day, simply use it's other name. SAD, Single Awareness Day.
I've pretty much ignored Valentines Day since elementary, but that was more exciting because of free candy. We've got nothing exciting planned (in case she has to go in on V-Day night): exchange cards, go see Underworld: Evolution, and then probably eat at IHOP or Steak and Shake (I have to work a 2nd job during the week, so going out early isn't an option). For us, it's nothing really fancy...mostly because we can't go overboard. It's just having a nice time together.
heh haven't heard that "SAD" acronym before lol. I'm just planning to go out with my mates in the evening and pick up single chicks that are out moping around in self pity and beer. Have fun B
I dont hate it and I dont love it, Ill probably do nothing like the rest of the year but I dont hate any other day that I do nothing on so I see no reason to hate Valentines
I hate it too.... Yes I get the wife a little something and a card and make a fuss but it is just to gain a bit of peace and quiet. It is, along with father's day, mother's day and the like, the biggest scam ever and one of the most pathetic rituals I can think of (I guess that makes me pathetic... hey we cannot all be perfect ). Once a year you show your beloved that she/he is appreciated...? Please!!!! I tell my wife and kids at least once a day that I love them and actually mean it. It is enough for me.... And, no, I do not expect anything on father's day. If anything, I encourage all the family to just forget the whole stupid thing.... Bottom line.... my world would be a better place without it....
I think on the whole it's meant for new couples to take advantage of to show the other how they really feel, and it kind of lessens with each one that passes. Me and my fiance went wild on our first Valentine's Day as it wasn't even a month into the relationship, after that we've slowed it down. But it is mainly commercial like any other holiday, but when you look at it this way it does make some small amount of sense.
When is Valentine's Day again? My girlfriend must hate me. Advice: Never EVER ask your girlfriend when A} Her birthday is B} Valentine's Day is C} When your anniversary is. Seems that us guys (even those who suck at dates) are supposed to remember random dates..sigh..Valentine's Day really is just another day when I go out with my girlfriend for dinner, a movie, etc. I give her chocolates or something, she gives me chocolates or something. Valentine's Day is mostly about the hype and the money, but I don't mind it. Give her/him a sappy card! I choo choo choose you! ~Shudder~

a good friend of mine happens to be just unfortunate enough to be born on valentine's day. yes, i send him love cards candies and a teddy bear as a joke
