Yeah, so, i'm computerless at the moment. Got some time today to install my new board, well, go to turn it on and it won't.. So, swap out PSUs, then it won't post.. My problem in the first place came form a power spike, and my mainboard didn't like it, wouldn't read any drives and wasn't sending power to the USB ports. So, it seemed logical to me that the mainboard died. Now i'm just confused, so now the powersupply died from just sitting, (electronics are cool) and my new board is DoA... Although, the dead PSU is kinda leading me to believe that EVERYTHING went with the board when there was the spike... i'm just really hoping not. On a side note, i'm kinda SOL right now, as i don't have anything to swap out... Plan at the moment to is get a hold of an AM2 CPU and a stick of DDR for as cheap as possible, as well, get an RMA for my board, just in case... This is a friggin nightmare... Why am i ordering new hardware with my RMA?? because i need a computer for life, more or less, my VoIP phone as well as class, so its making life really difficult. This has been the worst couple weeks, hardware wise, ever, this is ridiculous.
Wow, you do have amazing luck. Jeez, this is nuts. I'm sorry that this happened to you, I would beat my head against the wall to blood if it happened to me. I love computers and technology, but deep down in my heart I hate it to the point of if it were a person I would murder them without thinking twice. I hope everything works out for you in the end. Keep us posted because I want to know how you deal with it and how you diagnose the problems caused with the power spike.
yes, well.... i didn't follow what i figured, i ordered extra parts just to make sure my CPU/memory weren't dead. Yeah, so as it turns out, the board was dead, so RMA... and wait another week... fun, in the meantime, i might find a cheap 939 board, get my other machine working, not having a computer is making life really difficult. (as sad as that is?)
Well, board got here today, got everything put together, took most of the night, got the chipset drivers all set up, and i'm golden. Its a good feeling. my room has more cardboard in it right now though... its crazy. On a side note, the RMA process was taking a year and a day, so i ordered another board for my other machine so i could have a computer again. Then friday i was notified that Newegg was Shipping my board to me. (day after i ordered other board) Anyways, i'm happy.
