iam new to all of this computer 'building', but i was wondering which prosesser to go for, intel or AMD. I also want a motherboard which i compatable with pci-e and Agp as well as windows microsoft. The reason why i want a new computer is to play games, surf the net and also to help me with my studing cause im still at school.

At the moment, AMD offer the best performance for gaming for the money. For a normal budget, an Athlon64 based on the Venice core should meet most needs. Athlon 64 X2s are dual core versions which give better performance when heavily multitasking.

You're really in a situation where the only viable option with future upgradability is PCI-E. AGP is now antiquated and high performance cards are more expensive in AGP than they are in PCI-E. Boards from Asus, Abit, Gigabyte should all be fine, there are others but too many to list which are also good.

I wouldn't worry about having AGP and PCI-e unless you have a fairly good AGP card at the minute and don't want to get rid of it quite yet.
