I have been cleaning my computer, taking off old games, etc, well, I deleted them all then Im not sure how my computer started messing up and not thinking I did a restore, well the games are back on clogging up my space, but you can not play them, and I can not delete them again, its telling me "Install report support file could not be found... the system can not find the file specified"?? What can I do to get this off my system??
Run chkdsk on each of your drives. If you run it on the drive Windows resides on (it's probably C), then it won't be able to fully run until you restart because it can't access certain files. You might try going into safe mode to delete the files in question, run chkdsk and then reinstall the programs.
If I understood your problem correctly, then you can try a registry cleaning utility (that should clean all missing and invalid registry entries which emerged after the restore) and then you can go and remove those games simply by deleting their files...
I tried the disk clean up is that what your talking about?? I tried putting the game disk in to see if it would let me repair the game and it will not let me do anything at all. Basically I want the games out of my system. Registry cleaning? What is that?? How do I do this??
Check out, for example, CCleaner. It's freeware and a good thing to keep your PC clean and optimized. The integrated registry cleaner should do the trick. Also, you should consider keeping this tool to prevent any mishaps in the future and to have everything nice, clean and shiny But I should note that there are a LOT of tools like that out there (some commercial/some freeware) that do their job good enough. Just check out some of them and choose the one that fits your needs best. I use Registry Mechanic.
WOW, another example why System Restore should rot in hell. Because you have uninstalled the games already, the log files that contain the information about where various files are located has been removed. To completely remove these games, you will have to install them again, then remove them. It sounds silly I know, but that's Windows for you. A registry cleaner is not required for this situation, however it will help in other situations
