I bought Creative Vibra 128 bit, I have FoxConn motherboard, Dual boot (WinXP and Ubunut Linux). Each time I turn on my PC, I find the sound card is not detected and the system cannot detect it so I have to reboot the machine to detect it. This occurs each time I turn off my PC, I have to do a restart after I turn on my PC to detect the card. I thought it may be a driver problem, I reinstalled Windows XP and the Creative drivers and the same problem occurred again, it occurs also with Ubuntu Linux .hah:
Because this problem is occuring in Ubuntu as well as Windows, you are not suffering from a software/driver problem. I suspect an incorrect setting in the CMOS setup (BIOS). Reboot your computer Tap ESC (or F1, F2, F10, F11, F12, DELETE) before Windows starts to load. You should be looking at the CMOS setup screen Look for a menu similar to 'Integrated Devices' or 'Onboard Devices' Find an option similar to 'Onboard Sound' and make sure it is 'Disabled'. Obviously, your onboard sound cannot be enabled whilst you have a PCI sound card installed. This can lead to instability and compatibility problems
