I/O Device Error

Hello there,

I have two hard drives. One is a 40 gig which contains my applications and an 80 gig hard drive that contains my data.

Whenever I try and go to my 80 gig hard drive from 'my computer' or 'explorer' to browse my files it gives me the following error:
Request could not be performed due to an I/O Device Error.

What can be the problem? Is there a way that I can access my data and save my data from being lost?

Please let me know if there is a way.

Unfortunately it sounds like theres a problem with your drive or a cable has come loose. Try checking that no connections have come loose or became damaged.

If the cable was loose, then the 40 gig hard drive that contains my applications shouldn't work either? No?

Lets say its a problem with the hard drive....is there a way I can recover my data?
