Occasionally in firefox or iTunes, though ussually in games my computer crashes. It goes to a blue screen that informs me that "A hardware problem has been detected, Hardware has stopped." If this was not bad enough, my computer also decides to scream at me through my headphones. I have replaced the mobo (2x) and tested both a 480w Antec Neo Power and a 500w Ultra X-Connect psu. I've tried formating (probably close to 20 times in the last couple months) to no avail. Memtest did turn up a bad stick of RAM but I have since replaced that. I don't think overheating is the problem because I was able to recreate it with large fans blowing into it in an airconditioned room.
    P4 3.4 socket 478
    ABIT VT7 mainboard
    Audigy 2 ZS
    BFG 6800GT
    Linksys wireless G adapter
    1 GB Corsair true-value RAM
    1 Generic cd burner
    1 Generic DVD burner
    Seagate 120GB primary HD
    Maxtor 200GB backup HD
The only thing OC is the 6800GT, and thats stock for BFG.

I've never seen this error message, could you post a screenshot?

My immediate reaction is "IRQ conflict". Your computer thinks that IRQ X is, say, a hard drive and sends a signal to it. IRQ X however is actually your sound card which interprets the signal "Read memory location NNNNNN" as "WWIII has started, sound the alarms."

To get around that try unplugging all but the bare essentials and run it for a while, see what happens. If it all goes well , plug in one item and try it then, and so on. Ideally, and frequently, you will reach a point where things are running well until you plug in one more card or IDE device or whatever when it'll suddenly crash - there's your culprit. That won't necessarily mean you've solved the problem but you've definitely narrowed it down. Try that and let me know if it works.

The best thing to do is check the ABIT website for faq's or email
them for support but for now go here http://www2.abit.com.tw/test_report/VT7/index.php
and check that ur RAM is officially supported but the
sound issue needs looking at as i have NEVER heard of that problem
    in my whole life
P.S it seemes like ur 3.4ghz P4 isnt even supported!
What BIOS version do you have?

Alright, I underclocked my proc to fit the vt7 reqs. and no problems, I think we have a culprit. Oh and I bought the combo from a fry's and specifically asked about that (thats why it didn't occur to me) and the sales person said their sheet just needed to be re-done. :swear:

Glad i could voice my opinions!
Maybe you should look for a new board that can handle the 3.4?
