ok long story from from the beginning.
I was building a media center pc which had an ASROCK P4VM890 Motherboard. Most of the parts come from ebay and becuase i didn't have my new case yet i wanted to check the parts work so i slung them in an old case. Everything went in ok and worked a treat. The new case arrived so i took everything out from the old case and into the new. I also had ordered a new MATX PSU. I switched the PC on and got nothing on the screen. HDD starts up, CD rom starts up, PSU and CPU HS Fans all spin. So i done the process of elimination and striped the machine down to just the MB, cpu, ram and PSU. Still the same problem. So i changed the PSU to the one that did work with the system. Still nothing. So i removed the motherboard from the case and put it onto a cardboard box (MB Box). Still the same fault. From this i assumed either the motherboard had gone or the cpu and because i never touched the cpu when moving to the new case i assumed it was the motherboard.
Went to my local PC World and found the last P4 MB in stock and it turned out to be the exact model. So i took it home and installed the new motherboard. With the motherboard on the MB Box, i switched the pc on and it worked!!! I then did the following.
Put the motherboard back in the case - Still switched on ok.
Changed to the new MATX PSU - Still switched on ok.
Connected HDD, CDRom etc.. - Still switched on ok.
So after this i thought YAY pc works. It installed windows fine and i left it running to get all the updates. With windows updates, Antivirus and firewall, the pc had to restart a few times but on the final restart i got the original problem back. I now have no display on the screen.
So has anyone got any ideas as to what the problem could be? I looked over the old motherboard and could not see anything physically wrong with it.
