When i got my HP it had milenium installed on the computer. I then put in xp. Now i would like to switch back to milenium but when i try to install the milenium cd the computer says the cd is only for hp computers. I think the xp over road the hp. please tell me how to make this a hp computer again.
You cannot 'downgrade' a computer. Therefore the only way to do it is to backup documents etc and then format the disk and insert millenium and install it that way.
XP didn't over ride anything. Better off with XP than ME anyway. You could try formatting the hard drive with a boot disk, then booting to the ME cd
I can understand the reason you'd want to roll-back to an older OS. ME is arguably a terrible OS, but it does use less than half of the resources that bloated XP does. However, it is true that you'll have to install from scratch as XP won't allow you to "downgrade".
