I'm trying to learn, thanks to you people out there!:ff:but I still don't know if this is a hardware question or not! After help from one member, I'm now looking for help (maybe) from another! I'd like to know how (and with what hardware - I suppose it will be necessary) I can link up my monitor screen to serve 2 distinct and seperate PC's, at choice. Explanation? I have 2 PC's - 1 which I use basically for Internet business, and another I use for offline work. This "offline work PC" has more features and applications than the other, and up till now I've had to decide which one I want to use, and change over the keyboard/mouse and screen/monitor connections accordingly. I have no room for 2 screens/monitors, and I'm sure it isn't necessary to have 2 screens/monitors. I thought in terms of a sort of "multi-plug adaptor" but I don't know if this exists. Anyone out there who can give me some ideas? My second question to all you experts who take time to help us ignorant novices is simpler. What is the connection "parallel" usable for? It's there on the rear end of my PC's, and I have no idea what it is for!! Don't like having things in my home which I don't understand!! Hoping that someone out there can enlighten me - I shall be waiting!! (iwmpop)
This is going to be hard to explain!! You can get little boxes which you plug your monitor, keyboard and mouse and speakers into. Out the other sides of the box is two vga leads, two mouse leads, two keyboard leads and two speaker leads. One for each computer bascially. This way one monitor keyboard/mouse and speaker setup can serve both computers. You switch between the computers using a keyboard combo. On our little box its scroll lock, scroll lock esc. Its works really well. Ive just crawled around under the desk, they are called kvm switches. Fusion2u Here is the one we have. Regardless of what the manucfacturuers say of any kvm switch, you cant use wireless keyboards or mouse. The mouse skips all over the place and the keyboard is dead unreliable. This is apparently "working" to the peope who make the things. Parralell ports are (or were) mostly used for printers. They are mostly scsi and usb now.
Thanks Zeus! By God (and according to your name, you are one(!) that reply was quick! Only thing -can you tell me what this magic box is called? Howabout "parallel" question? I'm sure you know about that as well! (iwmpop)
I don't beleive it! I had hardly finished my message and the answer was there! Incidentally - I don't beleive you are "twisted". No twisted Zeus would be so helpful!
To add to the other posts, I have a Belkin KVM that services up to 16 computers(I use 9 of them), using 1 monitor and keyboard(not wireless)
