Here is my problem. I had to reboot my computer. its a windows xp hp pavilon
and when I completly restored it to manufacture condition I have to set up time zones and such. Now once I get to the part where it asks me to rename my computer it just shows a loading thing on the mouse but it wont continue? Ive let it sit and been patient but it still wont go. a strange thing is I can still click on the help dude and get help about stuff that does nothing. But ive tried restarting several times but still wont work. Someone please help me this is the family computer and I really need help on this soon. Thanks everyone for even taking the time to read this.

My hp pavillion has had the same problem every now and then when I did a complete system restore.

Have you changed any hardware since you bought the computer? If you installed any extra hardware the setup procedure might hang, since hp system restore reinstalls all drivers and such for it's default factory configuration it might cause problems if you installed any hardware it doesn't have drivers for.

Otherwise; The setup takes place in steps right? See if it helps if you skip certain parts, there should be a button to skip certain parts.

    Good luck,

    Marcel

Did you go for a complete system restore or did you just choose to reinstall the original drivers?

It's very important if you can tell if there have been any changes in your Pavillions hardware configuration, have you installed a different videocard in the past etc. etc?
