my current living room system is a low-end gaming /make-shift tivo setup. it's funny what you can put together with the old parts lying around the house. :)

i'm having a problem trying to get native resolution of the television, which i believe is somewhere close to 1280 x 768. unfortunately, after installing the drivers from nvidia, the largest res i can get is 1024 x 768 which is a 4:3 aspect ratio.

not only that, but if i try to drop to a lower 16:9 resolution, the TV indicates "no signal", and then defaults back to the previous res after the default time.

the television is currently hooked up with an analog pc cable. i've seen an digital out to HDMI adapter, and am curious if i should go with that option to score a more appropriate res.

    current system specs...

Its native resolution is 1366 x 768, try setting it to that if it will let you go that high.

I would try the digital out - HDMI adaptor though. 16:9 is its propor aspect resolution that should be used.

agreed, and thanks. before the post i had considered buying an adapter. perhaps the native resolution for the pc analog only goes as high as 1024 x 768? weird thing though, when i was using (however briefly) the onboard video, i noted a more respectable 1280x1024 res. still 4:3, but at least that's more appropriate.

i'm at work now, so when i get home i'll give any re-installs a try. drivers/ DX9 and the like...
