I just bought a new Maxtor 160GB 7200RPM 8Mb buffer HDD. When I stripped down my pc to install it I didnt find a spare connector from my PSU.

The PSU is a generic one which is running 2 Optical Drives, 1 FD, and 1HDD.
My system is about 3 years old.

Someone told me I can buy a splitter. Is this possible ?

Yes, but personally i would just buy another powersupply.

Sounds abit silly i suspect however if your powersupply is Generic and has already run out of power connectors i'd just go out and buy a cheap Generic NEW powersupply.

www.ebuyer.co.uk - search for 600W - it's a Generic PSU and is £18 LOL! - be more than enough for your 3 year old system, as a splitter is going to cost you around £9 or something stupid.

I agree with Procal. If your powersupply doesn't even have enough to add the second HDD, then it probably sucks pretty bad. I'd just go with a new, cheap psu.

The cheapest PSU I'd put in a system (which you don't want to randomly burst into flames) would be a Thermaltake. They are cheap, but good quality!
