The Xeon has been around for years, so it's not at all new. Additionally, the quad cores were released about a year ago, starting with the Kentsfield-based 3200 series. Xeons are not Core 2 brands. While they are based on the same current technology as Intel's desktop CPU's, they usually feature larger caches and SMP capabilities.
