Internet screwed up!!!!

Help! My internet has severely screwed up and i don't know why or how to fix it. I have a wireless BT Voyager 2100 router. I installed some new RAM, a wireless USB adaptor and some free software from a PC magazine disc. I have 8mb broadband but my pages are displayed sooooo slowly, in the bottom left hand corner of my IE7 screen is says Waiting for...Website.com - Open Discussion For Every Website instead of the usual Opening page. Can anyone help me?!?
 
I was wondering whether it'd the router? Think this could be the cause anyone? Just it's the router's time to malfunction
 
Actually, from what you've told me it really sounds like spyware more than a network problem. The reason I had you try Firefox was to see if it was OS-level or browser-level spyware; it might be OS-level, or it could be more. I'd do a thorough spyware scan (or maybe a few) and see what turns up.

Of course, if you've ran any "network tuning" software recently, the Windows network stack is easy to mess up. In that case, I'd hop over to broadbandreports.com and run a tweak test.
 
There could be so many reason for this...
1. Spyware problem as AT suggested...
2. Wire connectivities...
3. Distance from your Telephone exchange..
4. Your ISP..
5. Bad Router or Network Card....
6. Pirated version of Windows XP.
Well these are all I could think of at the moment....
 
I'm not sure it's spyware or adware, i've run all my antispyware etc and nothing turns up. I've run numerous registry scans too, again nothing turns up. My laptop and Dell Precision are also affected by this and i haven't touched them with RAM or software etc, so they've been left and experience the same waiting for... etc. i'm really stuck

Then I doubt if there is any problem inside your computer... Its something to do with wiring or router or ISP or Exchange then...
 
Yes, exactly. The fact that it's occurring on more than one system leads me to believe that you have a network-wide problem. Here are some suggestions:

  1. Make sure you are using WPA or better encryption on your wireless router, not WEP, as WEP has some serious security downfalls. This will make sure that nobody is stealing your bandwidth wirelessly.
  2. If you are experiencing the slowdown for wirelessly connected systems, try using a network cable instead and see if that makes a difference. If so, there may be a problem with your wireless implementation.
  3. Run a tweak test and a line quality test on broadbandreports.com, see if there's any noticable problems which can be detected that way.

Please try each of those things and let us know how it works for you.
 
this has happend to me before. it got to the point to where the internet would just randomly disconnect.

i got a new modem and everything worked as good as new
 
Something else you can try is bypassing the router and just plugging a network cable directly from your cable modem or dsl modem directly into your pc to see if the slowness persists. If its better, you know its in the router, if not, at least you can rule it out. Also, have you tried power cycling the router and modem? You may also want to try resetting the router if it has that ability. :)
