    Hell everyone

Me and my mates where having an argument about Kick Boxing. Some of us think its a sport and has nothing to do with Martial Arts because it is a sport where you use your body as an attack. I'm pretty sure that martial arts uses the body for self defence and only use necessary moves to defeat your opponent. In kick boxing and the other versions of it such as Muay Thai is basically kick the hell out of your opponent. Martial arts share a common goal: to defeat a person physically or to defend oneself from physical threat.

    What do you guys think?

when creating a thread, type your stuff & scroll down a bit & you'll see something like "add a poll to this thread"

to add a poll to your existing thread "edit" the first post (i think) and click "go advanced" & scroll down to "add poll"

every thing else is obvious[ot]i just tried to create a post because i couldn't remember [/ot]

Edit: edit is also good to add something you forgot like this of if you have an after thought, you can add it

I don't know if its a martial art, but my old kung-fu teacher used to do it, but he switched to kung-fu and now thinks lowly of it(kick boxing). The exact reasons I'm not sure.

yeah, i was wrong  & you are right about creating a poll when a thread is started, just tried to add poll to an existing thread & i couldn't do it, i just assumed you could add a poll to an existing thread (or maybe you could at one time)

ask someone from admin to add a poll, i know they can do it, well mega can anyway

    BTW: sorry

A good friend of mine gave up Kick Boxing when some of his classmates began showing him things they learned in prison LOL

As for the actual question....I would say that it is a martial art.

Muay Thai is not about kicking...it is the art of the eight limbs...and involves every forum of use of your limbs : hands, elbows, knees, shins, etc...

And it's not a version of kick-boxing....the other way around. ;)

Kick boxing is a martial art form and has existed in different designs throughout the world....primarily Asia.

Modern kick-boxing is relatively new...the first sanctioning body wasn't even organized until 1966.
