Well... I think I really did it this time... letting my parents buy me a 19" no-name- brand LCD screen without checking if it was any good. When I play Splinter Cell, Chaos Theory, everything looks pretty nice and crispy, except when it goes dark (e.g. at/after lightning strikes)... and then I see: lot of wite stuff! Kinf of jaggy edges... The rock formation in the distance, where you start out, looks like a jigsaw puzzle piece at the right&top edge. End when you start the boat level (S.S. Maria), the railings from the ship are totally *horrible* ... also when you use night vision you see kind of weird artifacts on some of the railings in the lighthouse (spanish colonial settlement) part. Now I was wondering if I just fell prey to the infamous "ghosting" problem, or is this some kind of bug with Splinter Cell? I think I gave a pretty accurate description, but I could post a picture of it to clarify.
Uh, i just hate it when my parents buy me something and not check if its any good, i was saving for the Logitech G7 mouse, my dad went out and got a Trust Laser mouse, not knowing how good it was, 800Dpi it was, preety much as bad as my old one Anyway, i dont think what you describe is ghosting. Ghosting is were if your on a racing game, or in any game, and you move fast, it is all very blury, or the picture repeats or something, like in racing games were you see the ghost car , i am not exatly 100% sure as to what ghosting is though, so the jaggyness could be to do with the monitor. This jaggy edges stuff i think is more to do with graphics problem, maybe the graphics settings in game are low? Have you overclocked your graphics card, do you just see these artifacts on those rails in the lighthouse, or do you see them quite regular? It could be overheating problems with your graphics card that is causing these artifacts, or bad memory. Make sure you have the latest drivers installed for your graphics card aswell I hope some of this info helps ~~Edit** Also, check the back of the monitor, or look around the monitor or check the packaging, there may be a model number or serial number, the monitor may be re-branded.
