Is this possible? LINUX on a USB drive?

    Sorry I am a total noob to LINUX and I was wondering if it is possible to instal linux to a 512MB usb drive and if it is is there a way for me to plug it in to a USB drive and boot from it?

    In addition to Slax, there is also DSL (Damn Small Linux) which is designed for booting from removable media but is also very handy for older, less able hardware.
    I think its installation size is... wait....50MB!

    [ot] I cannot beleive how easily we dismiss 50MB these days! Not so long ago that would be concedered a massive amount of space....amazing![/ot]
