About a week ago i had to switch from XP Pro to XP Home Because of err "Legal" reasons shall we say. i have come across a few "contact your administrator" messages while trying to alter certain settings?? is my computer stupid? i am my administrator (Bit of a naff one at best) but none the less i should be able to make these changes to my own system!! Im probably wrong but i think this has something to do with the security features not present on Home as were on Pro. Is there a way to activate the power users option on Home or is there a way of transferring or downloading these option onto my O/S. Personnaly i feel a bit let down by home and i dont see why i should purchase a "new" copy of Pro just to make these changes! is this just me or have i got a point or am i talking bo**ocks. Please help me understand Bill Gates that little bit better.

Cheers, linedog

Frankly, XP Home vs Pro is just a matter of +/- a few gimmicks. The bottom line is it's a dressed-up looking version of Windows 2000 Pro either way. There are several things which can generate messages like the ones you're experiencing. Can you be more specific?

Thanks,
