Well, i've downloaded and configured the program on my 3 work computers, although i've set it to only 40% cpu as i do use them alot also, once my boss gets back tomorrow, we are trying to stress test our new servers, we have 2 new: Dual Xeon 3.06GHZ 3GB Ram 3 x 36.6GB SCSI (15,000RPM) we do not need to put them into action until our current server runs out of guarantee (in about a month) Problem i have is we have linux installed on both machines atm, is there a linux version?
just to add i now have folding running for Z365 on 3 machines: Intel Celeron 733mhz 256mb sd133 Intel Pentium III 8xxmhz 256mb sd133 Intel Celeron Laptop 300mhz / 64mb sd 133 i think most likely i'll slap it on as many of the companies desktops as possible on low priority. - (all 2666mhz+ / 256mb DDR PC2700+) and as i said, perhaps on our servers
http://folding.stanford.edu/download.html Yup, there's a Linux version. Something tells me I'm about to get my arse kicked here, but, what the hell. Welcome aboard the folding team, Procal.
i've had 2 or 3 machines (relatively slow) on for around 5 hours now, but im not on the team stats? will i not appear until i uncover WU?
hmm strange :/ i've now got it on 5 machines, didn't get to put it on any work machines as of yet, but will put it on all work machines and set to idle so it uses whatever is not needed(resource wise)
I have mine running at 100% unless I have to do burn cd's etc I leave it on in the back! you have to complete an WU before you get listed on the team stats page, I'm not quite sure how long it takes for them to update.
pansy. :chk: I fold and play D00M 3 at the same time. If I had something like a 1GHz CPU, I might not run it at full throttle, but since I typically just surf the web and use notepad (I know, real intensive stuff), might as well contribute to the human race somehow.
well the most intensive activity my pc gets upto is Battlefield:Vietnam - Multiplayer (32 Player +) on Full Graphics.. which is fine.. and i run folding at the same time, however i ahve it set so that folding uses what cpu process is free.. so it doesnt lag.. also, i have a problem atm, that my computer is getting very hot, i mean to hot, my case is about 32C and my CPU is idle running at like 50C when i run battlefield and folding or just battlefield is reboots itself, getting v.annoying so i've had to stop playing till i get paid, then i can buy a decent cooling system. :swt: i have it running on 7 pcs now, mainly set to low (so u can run any other programs without slowing them down) will install on as many pcs as possible 2morrow at work, although i will have 2 create a new username i think 8 Foldings Per username.
F@H does tend to really heat up the CPU's. Not really sure as to what it's stressing specifically to do this, but if I do any cooling reviews in the future, F@H is going to be what I'll be using to stress a heatsink. No other program gets a CPU quite as hot as F@H.
ProcalX you have been listed twice on the team page, I'm not sure if you wanted to be? you have added '#' at the end of your username!
I think i just started a new WU. I'm working on a different protein now. I probably ran out of time to do it in so i got a new assignment. Yay! First WU done. How long does it take to update the page?
Yup. It's updated regularly throughout the day. I added another link in the F@H FAQ that shows which teams we'll stomp on in the coming days.
