Hi, I am looking to connect my upstairs computer, to my already connected broadband computer downstairs. I have bought a wirelessrouter to connect the two, but found it didnt work. Will this router be able to do what I want to do? Thanx, Luke
It should do so long as you have a modem with an Ethernet interface rather than a USB interface. I've never used it myself but from the description it seems to have everything you need and the reviews look good, just make sure you don't get caught out with a USB modem that you can't plug into it.
My current router and modem are all ethernet, as I have this PC and my PS2 connected by ethernet cables. Dont know if that makes it a ethernet interface modem though. So am I OK? If not, how do I find out if Im using an ethernet interface modem? Thanx Again Luke
Sorry, maybe my language was a bit confusing. By interface I meant this definition: interface: a connection between hardware devices, applications, or different sections of a computer network. http://www.sunrise.uk.com/glossary.html If you plug the modem into a network card then its an Ethernet modem, if it plugs into a USB port then its a USB modem, that's all I meant. The term Ethernet interface modem is not a technical term, just a complicated way of saying the modem plugs into a network card. From your description the router you're looking at *should* be fine (crosses fingers!).
Cheers penguin, I know definatly none of my USB ports are taken up by my modem OR router, so Ill go ahead and order the wireless router. Cheers for your help mate Luke
