I just finished my build pc, however, when i put my xp disk in to install the Os nothing happens,
All it says is that the DMI pool is being verified or something.

    Hi

Did you choose, in BIOS, the CD/DVD-rom as the 'boot from' device?

Not sure, how do you do that.

Here are some pics to show the set up and the error.

Your DVD-ROM drive is set as slave.
I am not sure whether you can boot from a slave but good practice is to set it as Master.
Would you know how to do this?
Also make sure that the drive is connected to the connector at the end of the ribon.

Next look for the 'Boot' menu.
You should be able to set the order of devices the computer tries to boot from.
The DVD-ROM should be first or second but only to the floppy drive.

Come back if you are not sure....

    Good luck

Make sure your HDD jumpers are set correctly.

Something is really weird about your set-up.

Your third(?) IDE master has a value. I googled it and it came back as a SATA drive.
Is this correct? If you have a SATA drive, how come it shows as an IDE drive?

Can you please post the complete set-up of your computer.
Try and be as detailed as you can. SATA drives do not need jumpers. However in order to install windows you will need additional SATA drivers to be introduced at the begining of the installation.

What I suggest is, start from your DVD-ROM drive - connect it to the last connector of the ribbon and have a look here - http://reviews.cnet.com/4520-6603_7-5118840-4.html
Modern drives should have some indication of which two pins should be covered by the jumper (a little piece of plastic, covered metal). You want to set the DVD-ROM as Master. Might show on the actual drive as 'mstr' or 'MAS' etc.

When you have done that boot into BIOS to make sure your drive is indeed a Master.

Then theoreticaly you should be able to boot from the drive.

I think i my win xp pro is corrupt. I just installed the OS and i have no software on it, all there is on the desktop is the recycle bin and the classic style windows, is it supposed to be like this. Also i went to install the drivers for the grpahics card and it crashed, it said the driver was not compatible with the OS.
