Kate and Konqueror

    A few quick questions

    1) How can I stop Kate from creating backup files?

    2) How can I get Konqueror to open files within the browser, instead of launching external applications? For example, in openSUSE, archives and text documents are open inside Konqueror. But on Kubuntu, Konqueror calls Kate and Ark externally.
