KDE is really pissing me off lately.

I don't like that windows will NOT remeber their position and geometry when restarting. This really annoys me. When I open something like konquerer I want it to frickin' open the same location and size as the last time I opened it.

Anyone know how to make KDE have a window memory?

KDM (KDE Display Manager) has the capability for per-window geometry and placement. For instance, I have Firefox always startup in full-screen mode, but I have Konqueror starting up in "Smart" mode. In smart mode, if I open Konqueror 4 times each window will position itself strategically:

EDIT: Oh yeah, guess I should tell you how to do it. :p Alternate-click on top of window frame --> Advanced --> Special Window Settings

[ot] That's an uber desktop you've got there, AT. Interesting that you've designed it like GNOME :p

I think I will try and replicate that on my Kubuntu machine with a new user account, but i'll try and make it look as close to Ubuntu as possible [/ot]

    Thanks AT.

Even though I haven't used windows on my own machine for almost 9 months, I still use it at work and I am really happy with the way it remembers where windows are supposed to be. I hate to say good things about windows but the way KDE handles windows is a little stupid. At least I can set it per application.

    Cheers

I lay it out similar to Gnome, as it seems useful to me. But unlike Gnome, KDE doesn't break when you customize things, nor does it look flat and completely bland (unless you want it to :)). Plus, it's faster and uses less resources than Gnome, and it has many more features. Win/win. :)
