Recently re-installed windows XP home edition on my laptop, previous to re-installation the @ key was directly above the right shift key where it is labelled on my keyboard but now its moved to my 2 key on the numbers along the top, does this normally happen with re-installations or is it a software glitch and how the hell do i fix it???? i've tried downloading KEY TWEAK but this doesnt give you the option for the @ key or " (full quotation marks) key where the @ key has moved to. Read about fixing through the registry but it was very sketchy does anyone know of a way to do this step by step???? replies appreciated, thanks.:chk:
Welcome to HWF Does the laptop have some kind of keyboard driver? I've looked trough the different international keyboard layouts, and its not a standard to put the @ key there. So I think installing the keyboard driver should fix it. If you don't have this driver, you could look on the manufacturers website for it.
you are using the US keyboard map / driver, just change it to UK BTW: not sure how to do it on XP anymore, but i'm sure someone will be able to toll you, i think it may be in control panel, or is their a keyboard layout chooser in the systray (bottom left, near the clock)
