Keyboard/Mouse not recognized

Hi
I had a mobo upgrade 2 months ago.
I run windows xp. I installed vista transormation pack 2 weeks ago.
Everything was running fine untill I decided to upgrade the driver for my usb connected game controller.
After restart, windows booted fine but cant used keyboard or mouse.
both were connected through ps2 ports.
Tried disconnecting them and connecting them again, power down and few other things but no success.
I then also tried using usb connected mouse and it does not work.
I tried repairing windows installation with xp cd but i can not select I agree tab upon repair reboot (basically cant still use keyboard and mouse)..leaving me with no choice but to make fresh install...
I want to know if I have other options..thanks
 
I would say to try a PS/2 Keyboard & Mouse (or the usb-ps/2 adaptor). Then find out the problem with your usb port. Could save you an hour reinstalling xp.

Correct. This can be make sense. And also try your mouse and keyboard on other PC first, weather it is work fine or not.
 
they were originally ps2 connected. and they did not work.
So it is not the usb thing.
well, after spending sometime with bone heads at the microsoft, i have just clean installed the windows and things work/

Well, simply downgrade the driver then. :P

Right-click My Computer > Properties > Hardware tab > Device Manager > Human Interface Device (or something like that) > Double Click on your Joypad > Click the Driver tab > Click 'Roll back driver' > Restart Computer

Well, I can not damn click anytime.. anything...so how am i going to go into my computer settings....I hope you get the catch 22 situation..

Haha, yeah I see what you mean. That's crazy. Sucks that you had to reinstall everything just cuz of upgrading some driver =\. I guess you should have tried borrowing another set of keyboard and mouse (maybe popular/new brands/models?) and tested those to see if they would work? If they had worked, then you could've done what Mega suggested.
 
If this is not solved yet then you can try one more thing.. Shutdown your computer, remove the power cable from the back of the Case, press and hold the Power button for 10-30secs, then hook the mouse and keyboard with the case, hook the power cable and then turn on your PC again... I read this somewhere on Dells website also it works for me everytime...

Yup it is possible for any piece of driver...Jst go to the Device Manager and click on the any device, under drivers you will find a button to rollback drivers...
