I was happily surfing the net and working in PS simaltaniously on my PC and the mac was on at the same time. My mom wanted to check e-mail so I disconnected and let her on the mac. She got off and shut down the mac and I went to connect and all I got was "no dial tone detected" over and over again. I made sure all the cabels were plugged in properly on my PC, I switched the phone line from one of my modem outlets to the other, restarted my computer (loosing all my bloody WU progress :swear:, thing doesn't ever save anymore for some reason... ) and nothing but "no dial tone detected. Then I finally gave up on the PC and went to try my luck connecting w/ the mac. I booted her up and just for the heck of it I tried connecting on my PC in case it took awhile for it to adjust, and for some totally unpresedented reason it worked. Maybe I'm missing something really basic and obvious here but I don't really know why this makes sense (I need my mac on to connect on my PC?, I don't recall ever needing to do that before), I'd like to know in case it happens again in the future. Thanks all.
thats a strange problem, have you tried reinstalling the drivers for the modem? or have you already fixed the problem?
The mac's been on every time I've connected since so I dunno, if it presists I'll reinstall the drivers, thanks, for a while I thought noone cared (sniff).
