Hi, i just downloaded the latest version fo Kubuntu and burned it to cd, no the problem is, on my main rig, when i put the cd in and then click install Kubuntu or w/e it is, this screen with this little bar with a blue rectangle keeps moving from side to side, now it keeps on doing this, then just freezes, and nothing never happens, now i thought it was a problem with the cd, but then i tried the cd in my old pentium 4 rig, and it booted fine, i have even tried the old dvd-rom from the old rig in my main rig, and it still wont boot :(

Any ideas what could be the problem here?

Ask over at Ubuntu Forums .

IMO, Kubuntu 6.10 is a poor release, not as good as the Edgy versions of Ubuntu and Xubuntu.

If I were you, I'd either install Kubuntu Dapper or Ubuntu Edgy

Yea, but even with the older release i tried once, it still did not load :(

I did ask at Ubuntu forums last time i had the problems, never got a reply :(

Why is Kubuntu 6.10 Edgy a poor release?, it looks alot better than Dapper, i have 6.06.1 on DVD. well i downloaded it a couple of months ago so i dunno if it is the LTS (Dapper Drake) release.

I actually got Kubuntu installed once, it was on DVD i think, its as if cd's dont work :s

We need to get the point across that you do NOT judge a distro by its looks alone. If you want a pretty OS use Windows Vista.

I would use windows vista, its just, i cant afford to, its too expensive to run.

But still, i dont understand why the damnd thing wont boot.

Ok, got Edgy working, its the DVD version, right, i clicked on install on the desktop, got up to the partition part, and it said something about the advanced partition manager or something crashing on step 5 of 6, and i cant get past it, any ideas whats wrong?

I also tried Kubuntu 6.06 or something, and the same thing happened, gave me abit of an error report though.

    Traceback (most recent call last):

Also when i try to launch the app in system programs list, when it is getting info about the drive, the QTparted app just exits :(
