    Hi all,

i am sahil and this is my first post.

Sorry if i am posting in wrong forum.

I was searching for something else when i first visted here in the morning and because this is a hardware forum i thought why not discuss my problem with experts.

So, i registered here and posting my problem now.

    -----------

I've a 3 years old laptop Compaq 610, i dont know exactly but almost 2 months (or maybe more) ago it started getting power off randomly but the frequency was very low in the begining. But after 2weeks of use i think its frequesncy drastically increased and as of now when i start it, it immigiatly gets power off.

I seek help in malware forum but its clean, i even did a clean install. I gave it for repair in our local computer shop but they said they are unable to detect problem. They told me they can replace its mobo for me (but that will cost me 8000+ INR that is almost 147+ USD) then it may have a chance to be fixed but they cant guarantee .

If here in hardware forum, anyone know what happened to my lappy please reply as i really need a portable pc right now. OR i've to buy a new one that i really cant afford right now as i am a student and my part time earning is not enough for a EMI bill.

thank you to all in advance.

    Sahil

What happens when you remove the battery and just run on AC power ? It can be a number of things, sounds like it is getting hot...
raise the back of the laptop up with something so air can get to the fans.... Check the fans for blockage....

hi Ghostman, thanks for taking interest in my problem.

It shows same problem when i run it after removing battery. it didnt wait for that much time that it can become hot, as i start it, it automatically power off. (within seconds)

It sounds like you have a heating problem, You need to check the fans and the cpu fan, make sure they are coming on..

hi Ghostman, sorry for the late reply.

Actually i am not a hardware guy....i contacted an expert few days ago after your reply but he seems to be busy bcoz he didnt replied me from the day i contacted him.

Can you please tell me how can i check this on my own, i mean i know the main fan is running but i don't know where is cpu fan and if it is working. :(

or should i take it to a hardware store???

Yea! you will need to take it to a repair shop, it will have to come all apart to get to the CPU fan...
