I have a Toshiba Satellite computer running Windows XP Media Center and am having trouble with the system clock. The clock sets itself back and hour every hour. So my machine is stuck in a one hour loop. I have tried to update the bios, windows and all my drivers. I have changed the time in both windows and in the bios, all that happens is the hour loop the machine is stuck in changes.
The next best explanation I can come up with is the cmos battery is dieing.
    Does this sound reasonable?
Any other ideas why this would happen?

    Thank you

if you shut down your computer and then when powered up, it has the time and date reset, that would indicate some problems with the battery, but lopping time? man, that's something new... so it goes like 2:01 - 2:02 - ... - 2:59 - 2:00?

yes and what i find even stranger is it is not looping on the hour ie: 4:20, 4:21, 3:22, 3:23, and as far as i can tell it is keeping time when powered down.

also i have changed daylight savings time both on and off, but it still is looping.

ok, then, try and remove your cmos battery - of course all modifications in the BIOS will be reset, but that might help it...
