Laptop woes - keyboard problems.

A friend of mine has emailed me using her laptop. However, her keyboard is being problematic in that when she hits the letter 'P' it will not work at all. She claims that this has happened to other letters before but they have generally started working again.

Do you know of anyway she could tackle this problem? I have no idea how accessable laptops are from a fixing point of view for the consumer, any help would be appreciated. Basically, would she have to have a specialist repairer look at it?

hello

i had this problem wiv my laptop (you may have seen my posts on here regarding this very topic lol) so today the tables have turned and i get to be the message'E

the problem occured when i accidently got the keyboard wet. after a few days keys started to malfunction unfortunately they did not recover UNTILL I GOT MAD WITH MY LAPTOP AND POURED WATER ALL OVER IT it did infact work completely well for a day (no joke)

but i sense you dont wanna try that out so what you should do is check the connection, you will need to remove the front panel for this, the connection is placed behind the keyboard its a thin strip that connects to the main-board just give that a jiggle and make sure its ok.

you can get replacements from amazon or googling about. just type in the necessary laptop and keyboard detais and if your lucky you should find some cheap deals, if not I suggest getting in touch with your manufacture before opening it up (is it still under warrenty?)

one thing i must stress (coz i miss my laptop and watching movies in the bath) is not to get mad with it and do wot i did.

good luck, again. your best bet is to check with your manufacture for warrenty /or parts etc as i believe your keyboard is knack'd
 
Thanks, newpaws. I'll pass that on to her. Don't know at this stage if it's under warrenty, but it's good to know that the keyboard might be cheaply replaced if it comes to the worst.

just pop off the apropreate key (with a small flat blade screwdriver) and blow into where the key was, then replace the key by pressing it into place unyil it clicks into place (with laptop turned off) its probably just a build up of dust behind the key
