    Hi all,

I have an HP zd7000A laptop and one day last week it failed to start up. (Actually first it started up fine, then went on battery power, and then shut down to conserve power -- and wouldn't power up after that). Recently I'd been having problems with the power jack being a little loose so I figured maybe my jack had finally broken and that maybe my motherboard was cracked.

So I went in...I inspected the motherboard in the vicinity of the jack and it looked fine. After some soldering I replaced the jack just to be sure. After putting it back together it still wouldn't boot up though. I've tried testing with two different batteries and two different power supplies.

Alas, the results are the same:dry:. Is there any other possible reason? Could the motherboard be cracked and it's just not visible?

Will the laptop power up if it is on mains only, i.e. no battery installed?

No it still doesn't start. The only difference is that when the battery is installed the power light flickers one time
