Stayed up all night and the thing that occupied me was realizing my brothers laptop chip set. Ati and remembering from the clock gen websites all plls for ati are supported. So i scroll through all the 1514xxplls and on my last try 151462 worked. So i inched up a little at first eventually i got the 1.73 celeron to 1.8then 2.0 the 2.1 and so until i hit a barrier at 2.5 the fsb would not go further even though there was plenty or room left. There is some lock preventing me from going higher.Im am prime stable for 6 hours and the temp tops out at 55c which is 2c higher than before. The laptop is brand new the only thing i told my brother to get a $20 512mb stick of ram to bring it to 1gig.He bought the laptop for 480 with the stick of ram its $500 for an 80gig, cd/dvd burner 2.5 ghz cpu, 1 gig of ram and because the guys at the store we nice and gave my brother a toshibia image disc of vista home premium not basic. All for 500 not too bad.

Not bad. A little crazy, given it's a laptop, but still not bad at all.

Well there are a couple good reasons for it:
1.)Heat, and the proprietary cooling that's used.
2.)Power draw from faster speeds. Of course, this isn't as much of an issue should you happen to have it plugged into the AC and not running off the battery.

Of course, some botique builders may have some OC'd laptops...so who knows.

Well yes but as i said the temps are normal only raised about 3c to be honest
And yes i take the overclock off when we go somewhere far but 99% of the time the laptop is at home and the charger pluged in

Not having to or being prohibited from raising voltages any helps with temp levels...at least from what I've seen. There have been a couple Socket 479 (incompatible with 478) boards from AOpen and DFI that allowed for overclocking, so, yeah, those things are pretty much OC monsters in the right environment. Unfortunately, the above motherboards were pretty lean on features and pretty pricey.

Yes i realized that the motherboards are over $150 in some cases.I wanted to get a mobile cpu and a motherboard but its way too expensive i rather get a desktop cpu and a cheaper board.
