Hello all. I am a network admin for a doctors office. For the past month I have been having a very strange issue with a Lenovo 201x laptop(Win7 32-bit , i7 CPU) and I have tried everything I know how to do. Lenovo support has been absolutely no help at all. I am scheduled to ship it back to them for the second time this afternoon. I have fully scanned the CPU, RAM, and Harddrive for errors using both open tools and Lenovo proprietary. No issues, no error codes. Here is the issue: Randomly and with seemingly no pattern the laptop will just shut off hard. As if you had held down the power button. It doesn't do the Windows shutdown it just shuts off hard. It was doing it only on battery power but has started to do it when plugged in also. We have 5 identical Lenovo laptops and this is the only one with the issue. I have taken a perfectly fine brand new battery and put it in the machine and the problem remains. All windows power options for all users have been set to never turn the computer off. For all power modes. Problem remains. I have reset the laptop to factor defaults running nothing but Office and our Electronic Medical Record. Problem remains. I have updated all the drivers. Problem remains. I have switched out power cables for the laptop. Problem remains. Lenovo has replaced the motherboard twice now. Problem remains. I have run Prime95 solid for over an hour maxing all 4 cores and I cannot seem to force the laptop to mess up on me. I don't think it is a heat issue because of this. I can't deem to force the problem. I am sending it back to Lenovo yet again today with the hope they might figure something out. I have no idea what the deal is. Help please
