I got the newest firmware installed which is the DL13. However the problem for my dvd drive when ever I burn with DVD+/-R 16x, the sucessful rate has been terrible(slightly less than 50% successful in average). I am not so sure is it only my problem or everyone's else. Since there are less and less DVD+/- 8x available. I really appreciate if somebody can give me some valuable advice to act upon.

Big thank you for your help!!!

I would add to Karan (yes you can come across dodgy media  ) and say that you should try and burn slowly and see if that makes a difference. Rather than defaulting to maximum, try 8X or even 4X.

Regardless, I think it will not hurt to install a good ASPI layer. Helps solve all sorts of weird and wonderful problems. Google for ForceASPI. Do not use Adaptec's own!

As Saba said, try burning at a slower speed. Burning a disc is a very system intensive task. Your Hard Drive may not be fast enough to supply the data at a consistent rate at higher speeds. Another idea would be to Defragment your Hard Drive so it's got less work to do seeking the data, hopefully avoiding buffer underuns.

I have installed the ASPI driver. However the sucessful rate has dropped to 0%%. I tried Nero 7.5 and Ashampoo as well. I have tried to burn at 4x and 8x. None of them seems to work.

But I have no problem to burn 8x or 4x dvd.
