Hi, I have Mandriva Linux on my system but don't tend to use it cause i found it hard going to find the drivers for my 6600gt. Also what internet security would i use to keep me safe from the many problems ive read about in micromart.

apparently you dont need firewalls, antiivirus and firewalls and spyware protections, i know that linux cant get viruses and spyware tho, you can get virsus and antispyware for linux i belive, but all they scan are windows pc's lol.

What games do you play?,also in linux you use a commant like apget in a command line to get all applications including your graphics drivers.

I think Doom 3 is native to linux, so i would think that games like Quake 4 and Prey would be too as they run on some sort of Doom 3 engine too, Unreal Tournament 2004 also runs Native to linux too.

If i have got all the above right, i have actually learnt quite abit about linux, more than i have expected to learn :p.

    Read these posts about mandriva

    That should get you started.

    For nvidia drivers look here

For security, it is a good idea to use a good firewall. I believe mandriva has a built-in firewall. Spyware is a non-issue with linux but viruses can be. You can spread viruses with linux even if they can't do anything to your system, usually via email. So you could email a virus to a friend and not even know it. F-prot has a free-for-personal-use version of their anti-virus. ClamAV is a free open source anti-virus. If you prefer a GUI then use avast AV. It is a primative and not yet refined interface but its a start.
