Linux peer-to-peer

I'm looking to set up a peer to peer network between two PCs. One of them is running SuSE Linux 10, and the other is running VectorLinux 3.2. I want them to share internet, and a folder. What's the best way to go about this? I was thinking about plugging the internet into the SuSE machine, then buying a new network card which would connect to the VectorLinux machine's NIC.
 
Yes thats possible, but I've never done it before and I don't know how its done.

If anyone knows how a tutorial maybe?
 
FYI, it's not really peer-to-peer except in conventions like BitTorrent. In pretty much all other areas of networking P2P is a misnomer; there is always a client and a server. Here's a walkthrough on making Suse act as a router. As for file sharing, that is a totally different thing than sharing an Internet connection. If you want to share files with Windows clients you'll need to configure a Samba server. If you want to share files with UNIX/Linux clients, you should setup an NFS export. Hope this helps...
 
I followed the guide exactly as described, but it doesn't work for me! I get to the final part where I am supposed to set up the DHCP server on the internal NIC. I click next to accept the settings it says 'failed to restart DHCP.

My setup isn't quite like the setup used in the illustration. My internal NIC is connected to the Windows computer directly, as appossed to a hub. I basically want to set up a peer to peer with the Windows computer via a crossover cable.

How can I get the two computers to talk to each other?
 
I've finally figured out how to do it :)

None of the tutorials on the internet helped much, so through my own trial and error I've done it!

I've got the internet connected to my SuSE box, and another network card which connects to my Windows 98 machine. I can share files and browse the internet on both :)

I think I will write up a little tutorial on how I did it soon. Although it will be specific to SuSE and Windows 98, I'm sure other people will be able to translate it for their own OS(s), be it Mandrake, Windows XP etc
