Looking for a rather large tft monitor

response time could be better, procalx has a pretty good TFT according to him. Might wanna check up on the one that he has
 
True but unless you're going to be doing heavy gaming that shouldnt' matter too much. Its very cheap for a 19" one.
 
It's as Addis says very cheap for a 19", i would expect another £150 on top atleast for an average 19", personally it doesn't look to great, it is for the money, but for the money you might as well buy your self one really really really good 17" LCD, they are still huge anyway.

Both myself and Extreme have very good TFT's, i had a 20.1" but it's slightly damaged - the fuse went in the power cord and i replaced it with a 3Amp instead of 13 :good: so i think i just need to get a new fuse but none the less..

Anyway that TFT is a nice screen, however its 25MS response time, that means that it responds about 25 mili seconds (minimum) to what ever you do on screen, which when playing a DVD in a scene with huge battles or playing a large out door game e.t.c you would notice something called Ghosting, this is where the response time is slightly to slow for whatever the screen is doing, so it's trying to catch up, subsequently it kind of repeats itself..

none the less 25MS is still fine, but for that price you could get a 16MS TFT (much better) for around the same price.

Personally i would just buy a really nice high quality 17" monitor with a 12MS response time capable of 1600x1200 resolutions.

One thing to note is how different TFT's can look from one another.
I got two TFT monitors. My 19"(oo'er) is immense and has a really comfortable screen finish and a very sharp display.
The second is alot brighter by defualt and the image displayed isnt as clear and contrast can be a problem on it. I know a guy who does web design and he was lookin for a huge TFT. He got one and paid around 700smackers for it :eek: and the image quality doesnt come close to mine which was £380. All in all its impossible to tell until you get it. If you know someone who has a TFT compare yours to it. If their picture quality is great and yours is nothing short of poor send it straight back and start shopping again.
Also be careful of these new brighter TFT's. They can throw out more light than a CRT! and dont always give you the option of turning it down enough to be reasonable.
I do a lot of graphical work and having a screen that doesnt give arc eye can
make an image on screen look more like it will when printed.
I would also recommend that Samsung SM-910N 19" that ProcalX mentioned.
 
I can't have a 17" screen ive always had a 21 " crt and even such a small size degrade will prove tough for me :(
 
Tip: If you can, :crash: borrow a 15" crt off someone and play doom3 for a week with it. Then switch to 19"TFT and find paradise once more

I'd look at Response time under 20ms if you want to game etc you can get 12ms e.g. Samsung 172x
 
She's on a budget and a tight one at that for a 19" TFT LCD, that TFT LCD has a 25MS response time, which is fine for gaming.

Unless your a hardcore gamer, or are using top notch graphics system then you won't notice the difference, if you are then yes go for 20ms or lower, if you don't have a top range graphics card and your aim in life is to play games full spec all the time, then you might notice the difference.. if your a real enthusiast.

The Benq you mentioned syngod is incredibly nice, i did suggest to her that she got a really good 17" but she is used to 21" CRT so does not want to go lower than 19".

Well i just thought the price was alot better, but its not including vat so the one i suggested is about £3 cheaper, but other than that exactly the same, + microdirect are rubbish and if you ordered now i doubt you would get it before february quite seriously..

I would go for the Samsung purely because its Samsung, which are v.good high quality, however as ive said.. it's microdirect but by all means order it, just personal experience they are not any good.
 
I highly doubt that the response time will be more than 24ms on it, and the rest of it looks fine.

But personally i would go for the one we last mentioned the samsung.

Or you could just query dabs about it..
