Hi, I have a C-Media AC97 audio device which seems to have stopped working and I now have no sound. Any ideas how this can be fixed or where I can go to get a free download of a driver update. Many thanks

Have you tried reinstalling your drivers through Device Manager?

You'll have to find out which C-Media chip you have, but you can download the drivers straight off C-Media's website.

You can also download a program called (Belarc or Everest )
They are hardware identifiers, they will tell you all about what is in your computer.

firstly is it onboard sound and if so is it enabled in th BIOS, next physically look at the sound card or mobo and look for a chip that is about 15mm x 10mm and it will say something like "AudioExcel" on the first line and the exact model on the next line e.g. "CMI8738 / PCI
