I am running XP home. I have the windows volume control turned up all the way, but it isn't loud enough when I listen to music. Is there another way to increase the volume? I don't have a sound card. My MB is a ECS 648FX-A2. It supports 18 bit stereo full-duplex AC'97 codec compliant with AC'97 v2.3 specs. This is a new computer, but the speakers are used.
1. Check master and wave both of them are full or not. 2. Check for the latest sound card firmware from the OEM website of your product. 3. Which speakers are you using? Do they have an inbuild amplifier? Can you increase the volume from the speakers? Did you use your speakers in another computer and noticed better volume?
Thanks for your reply. I'm not sure how to check master and wave. I don't have a sound card. The speakers came from a tag sale and don't have any controls or name on them. I Never used them before. may be time to invest in some good speakers.
Double Click on the sound icon on the right side of your taskbar. You will see lots of volume controls. Just increase the volume of both Wave and Master. If wave is not present there, just click options > Properties and select it from there. If your speakers dont have an inbuild amplifier then you might end up blowing your sound out of your motherboard or may be complete motherboard. You can get very cheap speakers for now if you dont have any plan to spend much........around $5 - $10.
Thanks for your help. Both master and wave volumes were all the way up. I tried speakers from my wife's computer with a built in volume control, and they worked fine, but she wants them back. I think I will buy some new speakers. Thanks again.
