I had a 128mb ATI Radeon 9800 video card and I looked for a low cost alternative at a local computer shop - it had to be AGP because my MB doesn't support PCE. I got a 256mb NVidia 6200.

The reason I upgraded was because I started playing video intensive games (WOW, Tiger Woods golf, RCT3...) and it would lock up during the game. The system would lock completely requiring a reboot. I had previously had problems with that video card and had enough with ATI so I went with NVidia.

It didn't solve the problem...

I have run Driver Detective (I've owned a copy for quite awhile) and made sure to update all my drivers. I've run an Orthos blended test for 9+ hours with no errors. I ran a graphic 'stress test' from the NVidia nTune and it ran with no problems.

I thought it could be overheating since the 6200 does not have a GPU fan so I got a PCI fan and have it running at high speed next to the card. No effect.

During graphic games I might run for 10 minutes, I might last 2-3 hours... but sooner or later the computer will lock and have to be rebooted by the front panel switch... it simply locks up. Upon the boot, there is no error message.

In my bios I turned off FastWrite - no change.

Any ideas of where I should look or what I could run to investigate further?

    Here are my details:

    MoBo: ASUS A78X-X Rev 1
    Chipset: VIA KT400A Rev 80
CPU: Athlon XP 2400 (running at 2Gz because my memory won't run at a higher FSB)
    Mem: 2Gb PC3200 (Corsair)
    HD: ST3750640A - 750Gb Seagate Barricuda
    Graphics: NVidia 6200 256mb
    NIC: NetGear 108Mbs Wireless WG311T

I would appreciate ideas or suggestions.

    Thanks,
    Matt

What power supply do you have?

What driver version are you using for the GeForce 6200? If it's not the latest, it would be a very good idea to update to a newer set.

I had to look at the PS to find out, I didn't remember... lol

It's a Cooler Master 600W... and I'm using the latest 6200 drivers (I downloaded their beta 'autodetect' driver update). It's version 6.14.11.6375 dated 10/4/07.
